Elisa is a regular contributor to’s “Chew on This” column, and  She also writes freelance articles for several publications including Parents, Woman’s Day, Weight Watchers, Seventeen, and Redbook, is the co-author of Feed Your Family Right! (Wiley, 2007) and So What Can I Eat?! (Wiley, 2006), and is the author of Nutrition At Your Fingertips, published by Alpha Books in November 2009. Elisa has also written many letters to the editor that have been published in the New York Times, Time magazine, and U.S. News & World Report.


Elisa earned a bachelor of arts in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and a master of science in clinical nutrition from New York University.

Elisa enjoys a busy and active life in New York City with her husband Brian and two sons, Spencer and Eli. Playing tennis, newcomb, baseball, and going skiing with her boys are some of her favorite activities. She also loves to take long walks, jog, and weight train regularly (and to spice things up, tap dance and ice skate too). She also makes sure to satisfy her sweet tooth with a little bit of chocolate each day.
